I printed up my free annual credit report from Experian and found 3 negative items for cable, phone, and satellite dish service. The person installed these services at their home and I reported it to our local police department. I get a call from the detective on the case who tells me that even though he has an address where the unauthorized services were installed, he can’t go to the house and charge them with anything cause he’d need someone to admit wrongdoing, which obviously won’t happen. My question is, WHAT THE HECK??? I mean, if you have an address and this person has installed services in my name, I don’t care if he/she doesn’t fess up to it! Let them know you’ve caught on and that they’re being investigated! Or not? How does this work? Why do I feel so violated, like I’m the one who did something wrong? And why does the ‘thief’ have more protection than I do?

I got pulled over for speeding today. The officer took my license and registration and went to his car. He gave me the name of a different town and asked if I lived there. I said no. He gave me the name of a woman with the same last name as mine and the first name of my ex-husband’s psycho ex girlfriend. He asked if I knew someone by that name. I said no. He asked me if I knew a man named Rob, last name starts with a P. The name was completely unfamiliar to me. He said when he ran my information it matched an order of protection for me and the birthdates match up as well. He gave me no more information except the order is to protect me from someone, not the other way around. Should I just assume he made a mistake or should I be worried there’s something wrong, possibly identity theft?

I may have just lost it, but in any case, I have called my local PD, I am gonna file a report later, I called my bank to set up a password, is there anything else that I can do to stop a potential ID theft????
I forgot to say that I was gonna go to the DMV on Friday; should I just call first and then go down there?

Chances are theyve been arrested before and when I supply the precinct with the two different locations where they tried to use my card this week, theyll get the tapes and look at who tried.

This all leads back to when I was jumped on August 6. They got $18, my social security card, and my addresses. I never thought they’d be dumb enough to use the card, or smart enough to hold onto vital information for this long. I’m fearing ID theft is possible, but with the information I told you, what are the chances of them being caught? I mean, they ARE ON TAPE!
This happened to me in nyc but the area where it occurred is of small proximity and the criminals tried to conduct some of this acitivity less than a quarter mile from where I was robbed. In addition to this, the local police jurisdiction has some significant crime but doesn’t cover a wide area. I’m hoping this will help me.
I thought the cops didnt care and THATS why I never reported it but now that I have Hard evidence against these assho!es tehyre expressing an interest in me so fu*k off to the guy that asked “do you think they really care?”
