Question by : Which is better identity protection: Lifelock, Debix, or Identity Theft.com?
I have a question about identity protection. I’m looking at joining one of the three main id theft protection companies: Lifelock, Debix, or IdentityTheft.com. I’m interested in knowing (from those who have one of the three companies or have had more than one of them in the past) which is the best company to pay $ 10 a month to for id security protection: Lifelock, Debix, or Identity Theft.com? Why is this choice better than the other two I have mentioned (for example, what do they offer that the other two don’t)? I’m really trying to make an educated and thought-out choice here on who I want to go with for complete identity protection. I would prefer complete protection (meaning ID, credit card, driver’s license, social security no., etc.). Thanks and I look forward to your answers.

Best answer:

Answer by G
I have never used any of them, but you can go here and read the reviews from people that have used lifelock.http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/lifelock.comYou type in the other websites as well.

Chexar Announces Its Patent Pending National Duplicate Check Database Called Dupex

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) December 19, 2011

Chexar Networks Inc. (“CHEXAR®”), announced today that it is launching a new service that will allow industry partner such as banks, check cashers, mobile wallet and prepaid providers, to better control the risks of either cashing a watching, or accept a watching for wedge, that has already been accepted by another provider. The one of a kind patent pending service will give industry participants an advance warning of activity on a check prior to their making the decision to accept an observe, including information about inquiries on the check prior to the first deposit.

With the rising proliferation of remote deposit capture solutions in the market, millions of checks are being accepted for deposit but remaining in the possession of the depositor. Subsequently, either intentionally or innocently, the same check tin be submitted for deposit one or more additional times resulting in duplicate check lodge that ultimately result in losses to the industry. The Federal Reserve Bank clearing caring, where most checks are originally deposited, does not check for duplicate checks. Often the duplicate checks are not detected until they reach the bank on which the checks are written which results in multiple returned checked.

Drew W. Edwards, Chexar Founder and CEO commented that “the genesis for this Chexar solution was in our core risk management expertise where we manage the front line fraud risk for our clients all across the nation that are either cashing checking, loading checks onto prepaid cards, or depositing checking into traditional accounts. We know first hand that if your risk management solutions rely upon post deposit data, it is too late to make the correct decisions and control losses. Clients on our core decision solutions don’t have to worry about this risk because we are managing those decisions for them. However, Dupex is designed for those other clients that run their own risk management solutions and gives them an advanced warned of prior activity on a check before they make their decisions.”

Chexar is now enrolling its current channel partners and plans to open enrollment to the market in January 2012. The service will be offered at a price point that will allow the broad market to ping Dupex on all checks before they are accepted at any endpoint. Endpoints would include brick and mortar check cashers, bank teller lines, ATM machines, and mobile banking applications. Clients will access the solution through a variety of interfaces including a web based portal and full integrations with mobile application providers, banking platforms, and industry point of sale solutions.

“Dupex is scheduled to be active late in the first quarter at the same time Chexar is rolling out significant clients on mobile deposit capture solutions.” Edwards went on to say, “Chexar is the leader in guaranteeing checks on mobile devices and we believe that the significant deployment of mobile solutions in the market increases the risks of duplicate deposits. Our content is focused on the underbanked consumer segments where the risk of duplicate deposits is even higher which is one reason we are uniquely positioned to control this risk for the market.”

About Chexar
CHEXAR® is the national leader for technology and solutions that enable clients to cash, deposit or load any check with immediate funds availability. Chexar’s solutions provide clients with the ability to truly serve the nation’s under-banked population now estimated to be almost 100 million people. The gating factor for these consumers is their need to freshen all types of checks into cash or value before they can acquire other serve including bill pay, money transfer, or prepaid cards.

Holiday Red Alert: Consumers More Vulnerable to ID Theft During Holiday Season

Austin, TX (PRWEB) December 13, 2011

For many consumers, the swipe of a credit card and the cha-ching of a cash register officially rings in the holiday season. It is important, however, for consumers to remain vigilant while shopping to ensure they don’t put themselves at undue risk for identity theft.

“We want consumers to be safe when shopping online and in stores this holiday season,” says Jamie May, Chief Investigator at AllClear ID. “With all of the commotion this time of year, it’s easy to let your guard down, not only in a hectic store but when making online purchases as well.”

In order to make sure your money is safe this holiday season, AllClear ID, the world’s first 100% free indispensable identity theft protection service for consumers, offers six easy safety tips for in-store and online shopping:

1. Use credit, not debit when checking out in-stores or online. It’s best to use a credit card over a debit card, because under federal law, you can dispute the charge if you don’t receive the item you purchase. You also have gainsaid rights if there are unauthorized charges on your credit card.

2. Say no to store charge card offers. As attractive as store charge card accounts and on-the-spot discounts or coupons may be, consider how busy and distracted the store is at this time of year. Do you trust that the store clerk or cashier will take proper care with the form you just filled out, which lists everything from your asked to your Social Security number?

3. Stick to trustworthy websites for online shopping. Review the seller’s reputation and record for customer satisfaction at the Better Business Bureau’s (BBB) website, or look for the BBB seal and other widely-recognized “trust label” on retailer websites.

4. If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is. Thieves can create legitimate looking websites that offer seemingly great deals very chop-chop; however, these sites often sell forging goods or just collect your personal information to commit fraud. In addition to checking for trust marks, watch to see if the locate has reviews from other customers on a – that information is difficult to fake.

5. When donating in lieu of a gift, first verify the charity. Unfortunately, the season of giving also creates opportunity for fraudulent charities. A great tool for verify charities before you donate is Charity Navigator. You can search by name, type of charity, and location to confirm the group exist, and check how it is rated — including how the organization spends its money and recent news stories.

6. Confirm your online bought is secure. Always look in your Internet browser’s address box for the “s” in https:// and in the lower-right corner of the test for the “lock” symbol before entering your credit card information to pay. These indicators tell you that your website connection is secure.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 11, 2011

Americans go to great lengths to protect against being robbed. We lock our doors, install alarm systems in our homes and cars, and insure our valuables. Many, however, do not pay an equal amount of attention to the crime that impacted more than eight million consumers last year, the crime of identity theft.

Recognizing that education is the key to prevention, the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA), and National Association of Triads (NATI) are proud to join forces bringing the fourth national Protect Your Identity Week (PYIW) to communities across the country October 16-22.

“For the 11th year in a row, identity theft remained the number one most reported complaint to the Federal Trade Commission, fostering underscoring the need for this campaign,” stated Gail Cunningham, spokesperson for the NFCC. “Criminals continually find new ways to rob us of our good name and good credit, making it critical for Americans to stay update on the latest protection techniques.”

Child identity theft is an example of one of the new ways crooks have found to wreck havoc in peoples lives, sometimes before they are even born. Children’s Social Security numbers are 51 times more likely to be stolen than an adult’s. Why? The crime goes unnoticed for years, usually not detected until the child attempts to obtain attribute, applies for a job, college or government benefits. By then, the damage is done.

Consider the following statistics from a joint report based on research dealt by AllClear ID and the Carnegie Mellon Cylab:

Youngest victim only five months old 54% nether the age of 12 Largest debt: $ 725,000 Two-year-old in bankruptcy Nine-year-old in debt collectionsThe hosts of Protect Your Identity Week welcome AllClear ID as a 2011sponsor, bringing their significant identity theft protection expertise to consumers, including information specific to child ID theft.
Thieves are also stealing the personal data left on old cell phones. “People are eager to cast aside their old phone in favor of the newest gadget, often forgetting that the old phone held passwords, account numbers, PIN numbers and other personal information that is a goldmine to a thief,” continued Cunningham.

Since the irresponsible disposal of cell phones provides another avenue for thieves to access personal information, 911 Cell Phone Bank joined the PYIW campaign, making it simple and convenient for consumers to safely rid themselves of unused cell phones at participating events. The phones will be wiped clear by 911 Cell Phone Bank, and then returned to law enforcement officials in communities across the country for distribution liberated of charge to those most in need, groups such as senior citizens and abuse victims.

People can have a false sense of security about shredding document at internal, not realizing that a clever thief can piece materials back together, particularly if they have been depriving cut. Cintas, a North American AAA NAID and PCI-DSS Compliant document management provider, is once again sponsoring PYIW by offer free shredding at active events. Consumers can bring their personal documents for shredding and rest assured that they have been properly and permanently destructing.

There will be more than 100 Protect Your Identity Week events across America from October 16-22, offering ID theft protection handouts, workshops, speakers, cell phone collection, credit report reviews and shredding. To keep from becoming the next victim of identity theft, visit http://www.ProtectYourIDNow.org where you’ll find educational resources, steps for victims, and a map to locate the PYIW event closest to you.
-30-

Payday Loan Now

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) December 12, 2011

PaydayLoanNow.com announces the launch of its redesigned site aimed at connecting cash-strapped borrowers with its network of vetted payday lenders even faster. The updated site gives consumers of all backgrounds and income levels the opportunity to regain control of their finances by securing a payday loan now.

“PaydayLoanNow.com is here to help consumers get access to the best payday loans available,” told company spokesperson Julie Weller. “Our improved placed is easier to use and gives site visitors a free, no-obligation opportunity to get pre-approved for a short-term loan in minutes.”

The current economical climate continues to put a chill on consumers nationwide, with increased debt piled on top of a struggling chiselling market. More and more people are in need of financial assistance, and it’s more frequently taking the shape of short-term loans. Despite the clear need for this kind of loan market, traditional lenders continue to adhere to rigid requirements that make it almost impossible for many to get a payday loan today.

Increased adding stringency is hurting both banks and consumers. Hardworking Americans are ineffective to find the aid they demand so seriously, whether as single employees or as little business owners. Surveys of the Federal Reserve point a reduction in business and personal loan approval in Recent times, which has in twist merely added to the revenue pinch already matted by the banks. This income reduction for the banks has simply served to eternize the cycle of banks sanctioning loans but for those who demand them the least.

The goal of PaydayLoanNow.com is to fill the growing market needs of a new consumer base, which is seeking alternatives to black-and-whitening lending terms. The company’s website connects those in need with paycheck loan companies who are able and willing to provide short-term assistance, even for those with unfavorable credit. Since lenders are aware they are being listed in a referral service, motivations are high to keep interest rates competitively low.

In further contrast to traditional lenders, the online application process at PaydayLoanNow.com is unproblematic and quick. Borrowers are in control from beginning to end, deciding when and where they select to apply, in accordance with their own busy schedule instead of the other way around. Personal data is transmitted securely to reputable lenders in the area, providing protection both from predatory lending practices and from the possibility of identity theft.

Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) December 01, 2011

ThreatSTOP, the developer of ThreatSTOP Botnet Defense Cloud, a cloud service protecting networks against botnets and malware using IP Reputation, has released ThreatCHECK, a tool to help keep people safe online, in time for the holiday shopping season. ThreatCHECK is a free applet for Windows users to check what ThreatSTOP knows about the IP addresses their computer connects to. This is the most reliable way to determine who the computer is really talking to. ThreatCHECK will provide a report identifying which countries the IPs are in, and call out known botnet and malware sites along with detailed research about them.

ThreatSTOP has the most accurate, continually updated, database of currently active botnet and malware sites. ThreatCHECK is easy to download and can be run in the background. ThreatCHECK enables users to ensure that their computers are talking to who they intend to, and not a cybercriminal gang in Eastern Europe hiding behind a seemingly legitimate website.

As more and more shopping moves on-line, more and more crimes are committed there. The holidays are the busiest days for online merchants as well as for the cybercriminals. Botnets, advanced persistent threats and criminal malware are widely recognized as the most serious information security problem today. The average number of web attacks globally doubled in 2010 from 10 million to 20 million , and the cost to consumers and organizations runs in the billions. Despite $ 20 billion spent annually on network security, 99% of networks are infected by malware. Criminals clearly have the upper hand as they attack—and profit—with very little cost and total impunity using victims’ own computers. No one, from the individual to the largest organizations, is immune.

“We are pleased to offer ThreatCHECK, a simple and liberate tool to help Internet users to find out the true identities of who they are really talking to online,” said Tom Byrnes, CEO and Founder of ThreatSTOP. “With ThreatCHECK, users tin make sure that when they are going to their favorite online retailers, their computer isn’t also sending all their keystrokes to criminal syndicates. Simply checking with ThreatCHECK for a few minutes can potentially save a consumer thousands, and businesses millions, of dollars from stolen credit card numbers or credentials, lost data, cost of remediation and even fines for failing to comply with data security regulations.”
